คอลเลกชัน: Wound Treatment

Wound dressings are materials applied to a wound to protect it, manage moisture and support healing. The right dressing depends on the wound type, how much fluid (exudate) it produces, and whether infection is a concern. EMIS+ supplies clinically-recognised wound dressings in Singapore across every major category.

Matching the dressing to the wound

  • Foam dressings — absorbent, for moderate-to-heavy exudate wounds; cushioning and comfortable.
  • Hydrocolloid — for light-to-moderate exudate; maintains a moist environment and supports autolytic debridement.
  • Alginate — highly absorbent, for heavily exuding or cavity wounds.
  • Hydrogel — adds moisture to dry or sloughy wounds.
  • Silver dressings — for wounds where infection is a concern (antimicrobial).

Common questions

Which wound dressing should I use? As a rule of thumb: dry wounds need moisture (hydrogel), wet wounds need absorption (foam, alginate), and wounds at risk of infection may need an antimicrobial (silver). Assessment by a doctor or wound nurse is recommended for chronic, deep or non-healing wounds.

How often should a dressing be changed? It depends on the dressing and exudate level — some modern dressings stay in place for several days. Follow the product guidance or your clinician's advice, and change sooner if it leaks or the wound worsens.

These products support wound care but do not replace medical assessment. Seek professional review for signs of infection, spreading redness, or a wound that is not improving.
